Demarquise Johnson is a special talent. As a 6'6 shooting guard, with a body that reminds many of a young Paul Pierce, Que led Westwind Prep Academy in scoring on the way to the 2011 State Championship. In the 2011 Season, Que averaged 20.8 points per game, shot 44% from 3, and 78% from the line. What makes Que special is his combination of size, athleticism, and his scoring ability. Que can score in a variety of ways, but his range and consistency on his shot separates him from others the same size. Que changes speeds well, and finishes above the rim.Que needs to become a better defender. He has all the skills to become a lock down guy, but he needs to put in the work and commit to staying low on his man, keeping quick guards in front of him, and communicating on defense with his teammates. If Que could develop that shut-down mindset, and take more pride in stopping his opponnents, then he could contribute to his college program that much quicker. Que could also improve his rebounding technique and do a better job setting up his teammates.
This summer, Que played for Team Eleate, and he took another big step in his development. Que has been working hard so far this season, and is improving on both sides of the ball. On 10/22/11, Que verbally committed to Washington State. He chose WSU over Washington, Gonzaga, and UNLV.
